Retail

Music for retail stores that sets the tone without selling it.

Warm, unobtrusive lofi for store floors, from a single boutique to a multi-site chain. Licensed through MassiveMusic, formerly Songtradr, by a single rightsholder, so an in-store deal clears quickly.

The short answer

Can a store play Spotify or Apple Music?

Not on a personal account. Consumer streaming services are licensed for private, non-commercial listening, and a shop floor is a public space. A retailer needs a commercial license for the music customers and staff hear.

For our catalog, MassiveMusic issues that license for your specific use. It covers both the recording and the composition, because we own both, so there is no label or publisher to chase before the playlist can go live.

Trusted by

Licensed by Marriott and L'Oréal.

Two brothers wrote, played and recorded the whole catalog. One rightsholder on the masters and the publishing, no samples, so MassiveMusic can quote and clear it fast.

Why instrumental lofi works on a retail floor

  • No vocals competing with staff at the counter or the fitting room.
  • Mid-tempo and consistent. The catalog was mastered to one level, so a day-long playlist never jumps in energy.
  • Reads as considered. Lofi signals a curated space rather than a radio left on.
  • Depth for repeat visits. Nearly 500 tracks across 58 releases, so regulars are not hearing the same twenty songs.

How licensing works

Step 1

Find the catalog

Search BeatsBackground on MassiveMusic and audition by album. Pink Mink, Family Ties and Lavender are good starting points for a store.

Step 2

Scope the license

MassiveMusic quotes an in-store license against your footprint: one location or hundreds, territory and term. Multi-site retail is a standard deal type.

Step 3

Run it in every store

Play it from whatever system your stores already use. One rightsholder means the license is issued in days and the paperwork lives in one place.

Hear it first

Audition the catalog before you open a quote.

“Strictly Lofi” runs seven hours and “Beats for Streaming” ten. Put one on in the room you are scoring and see how it sits.

The usual questions

Can we license the music for hundreds of locations?

Yes. Multi-site in-store licensing is a standard MassiveMusic deal type. Start the quote with your location count and MassiveMusic will scope it.

We are one small shop. Is this for us?

Yes. A single-location license goes through the same MassiveMusic flow. Tell them the one address and the term you want.

Can the same brand use it in video and ads?

Yes, but that is a sync license rather than an in-store one. Ask MassiveMusic for both when you request the quote, or read our brand video page.

Who owns the rights?

We do. Two brothers wrote, played and recorded the whole catalog. We hold the masters and the publishing, and there are no samples, so clearance is fast.

Who already licenses BeatsBackground?

L'Oréal and Marriott, among other brands, hotel groups and agencies. All of it through MassiveMusic.
