Who Is Lofi Fruits? And Can You Stream Their Music?
Updated ·First published
Short answer: Lofi Fruits Music is a Dutch lofi collective and label, run by Fruits Music (formerly Strange Fruits), the company producer Steve Void founded in 2017. It is known for calm lofi originals, lofi covers of pop songs and one of the biggest independent lofi playlists on Spotify. Its music is copyrighted, and we could not find a public policy that lets streamers use it for free. The Lofi Fruits site sells licenses for YouTube and commercial use, so license it or ask them before you play it on stream.
Who is Lofi Fruits?
Lofi Fruits describes itself as an independent music label focused on relaxing lofi and smooth jazz, making music to help you study, focus and unwind. Behind the name is a collective of Dutch-based artists, producers and writers who release under the Fruits Music label.
Most people find Lofi Fruits through Spotify, where its lofi playlist has millions of likes, or through its YouTube livestreams, which pair the music with colorful animated visuals. The sound leans on real instruments, soft drums and ambient texture, built for background listening.
Why the lofi covers took off
A big part of the Lofi Fruits catalog is lofi covers: well-known pop songs slowed down, stripped of vocals and rebuilt as calm instrumentals. They work because the melody is already familiar, so the track feels comforting on the first listen. Covers also get found in search and on playlists by people looking for the original song, which helps a lot on streaming services.
Can you play Lofi Fruits on Twitch or YouTube?
Treat it like music from any label. As far as we can find, Lofi Fruits has no published free-to-stream policy, and its site offers paid licenses for YouTube and commercial use. That means playing it on a stream or in a video without a license carries the usual risk of muted VODs, claims or takedowns.
Covers add another layer. A lofi cover of a pop song still contains that song, which belongs to its original songwriters and publishers. A cover is rarely something one label can clear for you on its own.
If you want that sound on stream without the paperwork, look at music whose owners say yes up front: Lofi Girl's catalog (with credit), StreamBeats, or us. Our guide to the best royalty-free music for Twitch compares them.
